AI Flaw Reporting and Security Enhancement Act

This bill creates a voluntary program, run by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), for people to report and track flaws found in artificial intelligence systems. NIST would work with different groups to agree on what counts as an AI flaw, set up categories for different types of flaws (like safety or security problems), and create guidelines for finding, managing, and fixing them. The bill also requires NIST to build or update a national database to collect and track these reported AI flaws, similar to one it already runs for cybersecurity problems. NIST would have three years to report back to Congress on how the program is going.
