Cure Hepatitis C Act of 2026

This bill sets up programs to provide free hepatitis C medications to certain groups of people, including those on Medicaid or CHIP, people in jail or prison, uninsured individuals, and those receiving care through the Indian Health Service. The Department of Health and Human Services would sign a five-year contract with drug companies to buy hepatitis C treatments so these individuals don't have to pay anything out of pocket. State Medicaid programs and state or local jails can choose to participate, but federal prisons and the Indian Health Service would be required to take part. The bill also creates grants to help with hepatitis C testing and treatment, and it allows people on Medicare to get hepatitis C drugs without paying out of pocket from 2028 through 2032.
