This resolution calls on India to carry out its own independent investigation into the arrest, imprisonment, and death of Father Stanislaus Lourduswamy, also known as Father Stan, a well-known human rights activist who died while being held in custody on July 5, 2021. The resolution also says that people who speak up for human rights should not be mistreated or put in jail for doing so, and that freedom of expression is a basic human right.
