Safe and Secure Transportation of American Energy Act

This bill makes it a crime to vandalize, tamper with, or interfere with the operation or construction of interstate gas or hazardous liquid pipelines. Current law already makes it a crime to knowingly damage or destroy these pipeline facilities, with penalties including fines, up to 20 years in prison, or both — and up to life in prison if someone dies as a result. The bill expands those same penalties to cover additional actions like disrupting or preventing a pipeline's operation or construction.
