A bill to require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to extend the time period during which licensees are required to commence construction of certain hydropower projects.

This bill lets the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) give extra time to certain hydropower projects that received their licenses before March 13, 2020, to start construction. Under current law, FERC can already extend construction deadlines by up to eight years, but this bill would allow up to six more years on top of that, broken into three two-year extensions. The bill also allows FERC to bring back certain licenses that have expired for projects that received these extended deadlines.
