A bill to require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to extend the time period during which licensees are required to commence construction of certain hydropower projects.

This law lets the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) give extra time to certain hydropower projects to start construction, specifically projects that received their licenses before March 13, 2020. On top of the eight extra years already allowed under existing law, FERC can now grant up to six more additional years, broken into three two-year periods, if the project owners ask for it. The law also allows FERC to bring back licenses that have expired for projects that received these extended construction deadlines.
