Nutritious SNAP Act of 2025

This bill would limit what people can buy with SNAP food assistance (sometimes called food stamps). It would only allow SNAP benefits to be used to buy certain drinks like water, milk, milk substitutes, and 100% juice, meaning things like soda could not be purchased. It would also stop SNAP benefits from being used to buy certain snack and dessert foods like chips, ice cream, candy, and snack cakes. The bill would also let states ask the Department of Agriculture for permission to ban SNAP purchases of other foods that the state decides are unhealthy.
