MATCH Act of 2025

This bill changes a USDA program that helps states, local governments, and Indian tribes protect people and property from natural disasters like floods, fires, and storms. Right now, these groups need to have an agreement with USDA before spending money on emergency watershed protection projects. Under this bill, they could start spending money on certain approved emergency measures before the agreement is finalized, and those costs would count toward their required share of the project once an agreement is in place. USDA would be required to create a list of which emergency measures qualify and set up a process at the state level for requesting additional ones.
