AID Youth Employment Act

This bill would have the Department of Labor give out grants through a competition to help states, local governments, Indian tribes, and community organizations create summer and year-round jobs for young people between the ages of 14 and 24. It focuses on youth who may face extra challenges, such as those involved in the justice system, those experiencing homelessness, or those who are pregnant or parenting. The grant money can be used to pay wages, provide support services like child care or case management, and build systems to track how the programs are doing. The Department of Labor would also be required to set goals for the programs and check each year to see how well grant recipients are performing.
