Protect Elections from Deceptive AI Act

This bill makes it illegal to knowingly spread fake audio or video created by artificial intelligence that is designed to deceive people about federal candidates, whether to influence an election or to raise money. The rule applies to individuals, political committees, and other groups involved in federal elections. There are exceptions for radio and TV stations that air such content with proper disclosures as part of legitimate news broadcasts. The bill also allows federal candidates who are depicted in deceptive AI-generated media to sue for relief or money damages.
