Driving Forward Act

This bill would permanently allow states to let school bus drivers skip the "under-the-hood" engine check part of the commercial driver's license (CDL) test. Right now, there is a temporary rule that lets states do this, but it is set to expire. Under this bill, school bus drivers who get their CDL this way would only be allowed to drive school buses within their own state, and they would still have to pass the other parts of the vehicle inspection test. States that use this option would also have to send in a yearly report saying how many drivers got their CDL under this rule.
