Fair Day in Court for Kids Act of 2025

This bill sets up rules to help non-U.S. citizens who are in immigration court or being held in detention get access to a lawyer. It says the government can pay for lawyers for people facing removal from the country, and it requires the government to provide and pay for a lawyer for unaccompanied children at every step of their immigration case. The bill also requires that people in immigration proceedings receive a full copy of their immigration file within seven days and that all detained non-U.S. citizens have access to a lawyer. Additionally, the government must create guidelines for representing children in immigration cases and report each year on how well it has provided lawyers for unaccompanied children.
