TAKE IT DOWN Act

This bill makes it illegal to post intimate or sexual images or videos of someone online without their permission, including both real images and computer-generated fakes like deepfakes. It covers both adults and minors, and people who break this law can face prison time, fines, and be required to pay restitution to victims. It is also illegal to threaten to post such images. The bill also requires websites and apps where users can post content to set up a way for victims to request removal of these images, and those platforms must take the images down within 48 hours of being notified.
