Cahokia Mounds Mississippian Culture Study Act

This bill requires the Department of the Interior to study three historic mound sites in Illinois — Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, Emerald Mounds, and Pulcher Mounds — to figure out if they are nationally significant and whether they should become part of the National Park System. The study must also look at other ways to protect and preserve these sites, including options involving other government agencies or nonprofit organizations, and estimate how much any of those options would cost. Once the study is done, the Department of the Interior must report its findings and recommendations to certain committees in Congress.
