SECURE Notarization Act of 2025

This bill lets notaries — people authorized to officially witness the signing of documents — do their work remotely using video chat and electronic records instead of requiring everyone to be in the same room. It sets rules for how these remote notarizations must be done, including recording the video and audio of the process. The bill also requires all U.S. courts and states to accept notarizations done remotely or electronically by a notary from any state, as long as they involve business across state lines. It also allows notaries to remotely notarize documents for people located outside the United States, as long as certain requirements are met.
