Veterans Health Care Freedom Act

This bill would create a three-year test program that lets veterans enrolled in the VA health care system pick where they get their care, whether that's at a VA hospital, a community doctor who works with the VA, or other approved providers. Right now, there are rules — like where a veteran lives — that limit which facilities they can use, but this program would remove those restrictions. After four years, the bill would make these changes permanent, meaning veterans could go to any approved provider or VA facility without meeting the current requirements, even if the VA facility is in a different region than where they live.
