Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act of 2025

This bill would give death and disability benefits to certain public safety officers, like police and firefighters, who get cancer from being exposed to cancer-causing substances while on duty. To qualify, the officer must have served for at least 5 years before being diagnosed, the diagnosis must happen within 15 years of their last day of active service, and the cancer must have directly caused their death or permanent and total disability. The bill also requires the Department of Justice to regularly review and update what counts as an "exposure-related cancer" based on medical evidence.
