Biochar Research Network Act of 2025

This bill requires the Agricultural Research Service to set up a network of up to 20 research sites to study biochar, which is a material made by heating things like wood, grass, and manure in a low-oxygen environment. The research would look at how biochar works in different soils, climates, and application methods to better understand whether it can help agriculture, forestry, and the environment. The research sites can include state experiment stations and facilities run by several federal agencies, including the Forest Service and the Departments of Energy, Commerce, and the Interior. Biochar can be added to soil to trap carbon and improve soil health.
