College Transparency Act

This bill requires the National Center for Education Statistics to create a secure data system that tracks information about college students, including their enrollment, progress, graduation, outcomes after college, and costs and financial aid. The system would give students and families useful information to help them make decisions about college and would reduce the paperwork that colleges have to fill out. The bill also creates an advisory committee to help oversee the data system and requires the Department of Education to assign staff to carry out the work and report to Congress every three months on how things are going.
