EATS Act of 2025

This bill would make it easier for college students to get food assistance through SNAP (sometimes called food stamps). Right now, students between 18 and 49 years old generally cannot get SNAP benefits unless they meet certain conditions, like working at least 20 hours a week or caring for a young child. This bill would remove those restrictions so that students attending college at least half time could qualify for SNAP if they otherwise meet the program's requirements. It would also count students as their own separate households, which is important because SNAP benefits are given to households.
