Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act

This bill would permanently make it easier for more people to get tax credits that help pay for health insurance bought through the health insurance marketplace. Right now, there are temporary rules that let more people qualify for these credits and get bigger credits, but those rules are set to expire after 2025 — this bill would make them permanent. The bill would also undo several changes to Medicaid, Medicare, and health-related tax rules that were made by another law called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, including rolling back certain eligibility checks and verification requirements and restoring a longer window for retroactive Medicaid coverage.
