New York-New Jersey Watershed Protection Act

This bill creates programs to help restore and protect the watershed area that drains into the New York-New Jersey Harbor, including the surrounding land, water, and estuaries. It requires the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to set up a program that coordinates restoration efforts among government agencies and conservation partners, and it creates a grant program that gives matching funds to certain groups for watershed protection projects. The federal government cannot keep ownership of any land bought through this bill, except to quickly hand it over to grant recipients. The bill would expire on October 1, 2031.
