Health Care Workforce Expansion Act of 2025

This bill creates several grant programs to train more health care workers and get them to areas that need them. The Department of Education would pay full tuition for certain medical, dental, and nursing students, but in return, medical students must agree to work in primary care for 10 years and dental students must work in a rural area for 10 years — if they don't, they have to pay back up to $50,000. The bill also adds more residency training spots under Medicare, especially in psychiatry and primary care, and extends a program that trains medical students in community health centers through 2035. Finally, it provides grants to help health professions schools grow their enrollment and to help doctors, dentists, and nurses pay for moving their practices to rural areas, as long as they agree to stay for at least three years.
