Prison Staff Safety Enhancement Act

This law requires the Department of Justice and related agencies to deal with cases where incarcerated people sexually harass or assault staff members who work in federal prisons. It requires the Department of Justice to create national standards aimed at preventing, reducing, and punishing sexual harassment and sexual assault committed by inmates against prison officers and other Bureau of Prisons employees. The law also requires the Bureau of Prisons to fully carry out the recommendations from an Inspector General report that looked at how the Bureau handled these kinds of incidents.
