Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Reauthorization Act of 2026

This bill extends funding through 2031 for government programs that help patients get bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplants from donors who are not their biological relatives. It continues the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program, which works to increase donations, match donors with patients, and share information and research. The bill also updates the National Cord Blood Inventory program by changing its goal from collecting a specific number of cord blood units to maintaining whatever supply the Health Resources and Services Administration determines is enough, and it adds a clear definition of what counts as a high-quality cord blood unit based on industry and FDA standards.
