Connected Vehicle Security Act of 2026

This bill makes it illegal to import, make, sell, or distribute in the United States any internet-connected vehicles or their software and hardware parts if those items are linked to China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea. Current rules already block certain vehicle technology connected to China and Russia, but this bill adds Iran and North Korea to the list and also covers certain artificial intelligence parts. The Department of Commerce must publish a list by January 1, 2027, of specific items that are allowed exceptions to the ban. The bill also sets up enforcement rules, including fines for anyone who breaks the law.
