Rural Community Hospital Demonstration Program Reauthorization

This bill extends a government program called the Rural Community Hospital Demonstration Program for five more years. The program tests whether Medicare can pay small rural hospitals based on their actual costs, specifically hospitals that are too big to qualify for special payments given to very small "critical access" hospitals. The bill also says that hospitals already taking part in the program between December 30, 2024, and January 1, 2027, can keep participating during the five-year extension.
