Ensuring Seniors’ Access to Quality Care Act

This bill changes the rules for nurse-aide training programs at nursing homes that have gotten in trouble for providing poor care. Under current law, those nursing homes can be permanently blocked from running training programs, but this bill would limit that block to up to two years and allow it to be lifted once the facility fixes the problems. The bill also lets nursing homes and other healthcare providers look up disciplinary records of their doctors and other staff through a national database maintained by state licensing authorities.
