Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Reauthorization Act of 2026

This bill renews funding through 2031 for programs that support research into drugs and treatments for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) and other brain and nerve diseases. It continues grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration for researching new treatments, including for people who can't participate in regular clinical trials. The bill also adds new requirements, such as making the FDA publish a plan every five years describing what it will do to help develop and provide access to new drugs for ALS and similar rare diseases, and requiring reports on how well these grant programs are working.
