Take Care of America’s Veterans Act

This bill makes a wide range of changes to benefits, health care, and services for veterans and their families. It updates disability pay rules so some military retirees can receive both their retired pay and disability compensation at the same time, increases payments for surviving spouses, and creates a new monthly payment for certain disabled veterans. The bill also expands support for family caregivers, extends a suicide prevention grant program, broadens mental health research, and updates education and training benefits like housing allowances for apprenticeships. Additionally, it makes changes to how the VA hires staff, manages its buildings, runs its community care program, and handles things like disability ratings for conditions such as sleep apnea and tinnitus.
