Gun Records Restoration and Preservation Act

This bill would remove several restrictions on what the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is allowed to do when enforcing federal gun laws. Right now, there are rules that limit how the ATF can use gun tracing data, prevent it from combining gun dealer records into one central system, stop it from requiring gun dealers to do physical inventory checks, and require background check records to be destroyed within 24 hours. This bill would get rid of all of those restrictions.
