Justice for ALS Veterans Act of 2025

This bill would give extra payments to the surviving spouse of a veteran who died from ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease), even if the veteran had the disease for less than eight years before death. Right now, these increased payments are only available if the veteran's disability was rated as totally disabling for at least eight continuous years before they died. The bill removes that eight-year requirement for veterans who died from ALS and applies this change to deaths that happened on or after October 1, 2022.
