Modernizing Access to Our Public Oceans Act

This law requires the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to create a public website with map-based data showing where people can and cannot do things like fishing and boating in federal waters, including ocean areas up to 200 miles from the U.S. coastline. NOAA has four years to build this website, which must show fishing restrictions, areas where certain recreational boats are limited, and federally protected areas like National Marine Sanctuaries. The law also requires NOAA to work with state and local governments, tribal organizations, other federal agencies, and outside partners to make sure the information is consistent and easy to access.
