Modernizing Access to Our Public Oceans Act

This bill requires the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to publish map-based data online about where the public can go boating, fishing, and do other recreational activities in federal waters, including ocean waters up to 200 miles from the U.S. coastline. NOAA must work with state and local governments, tribal groups, and other partners to set standards for sharing this information. Within four years, NOAA has to create a public website that shows where fishing restrictions exist, where certain types of recreational boats are limited, and where federally protected areas like National Marine Sanctuaries are located. The bill also requires NOAA to work with other federal agencies to make sure their data systems work well together.
