Rural Broadband Protection Act of 2025

This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to create a system for checking whether companies applying for government funding to build broadband internet in rural and other hard-to-serve areas are actually capable of doing the job. Applicants would need to show they have the technical skills, money, and a solid business plan to carry out their proposed projects. The FCC would also look at whether applicants have followed the rules in past government broadband programs. Additionally, the bill sets up financial penalties for applicants who fail to meet requirements during the review process before they start receiving money.
