Fair Access to Agriculture Disaster Programs Act

What this bill does

AI plain-language summary

This bill changes the rules for who can get help from certain government disaster programs for farmers and ranchers. Right now, people or businesses that make more than $900,000 on average cannot receive benefits from these programs. Under this bill, that income limit would be waived for people or businesses that earn at least 75% of their income from farming, ranching, or forestry activities, which also includes things like agritourism, selling farm products directly to customers, and selling farm equipment. The programs covered include ones that help with livestock losses, livestock feed during disasters, emergency help for livestock, honey bees, and farm-raised fish, tree losses, and crop disasters for uninsured crops.
