This joint resolution cancels an Environmental Protection Agency rule that required certain pollution sources to keep following stricter air pollution controls even after they reclassified from "major sources" to "area sources," which normally have less strict rules. Under the canceled rule, facilities that switched to the less strict category still had to keep using their existing pollution controls to make sure they didn't release more hazardous air pollutants than they were allowed under the stricter standards. This joint resolution removes those requirements for facilities that release long-lasting and harmful air pollutants.
