Snow Water Supply Forecasting Reauthorization Act of 2025

This bill extends funding through 2031 for a Bureau of Reclamation program that measures snowpack in western states to help predict water supplies. It updates the program by requiring the use of newer technologies that can provide more accurate and timely snowpack measurements and models when making water supply forecasts or deciding how much water to send to federal water contractors. The bill also sets priorities for the program, including improving forecasts to better respond to changing weather and watershed conditions, using real-time data, focusing on river basins where better measurements can help with water management decisions, and helping program partners adjust to new forecasting tools.
