Geothermal Energy Advancement Act

This bill creates a new position called a geothermal ombudsman within the Bureau of Land Management to help manage the process of approving geothermal energy projects on federal land. The ombudsman would serve as a go-between for different government offices, help resolve disagreements between the government and project applicants, and work to keep the permitting process moving smoothly. The bill also sets up a Geothermal Permitting Task Force, led by the ombudsman, which can bring in workers from other offices within the Department of the Interior to help get geothermal project approvals done, and those reassigned workers may receive extra pay to stay on the job.
