Water Resources Development Act of 2026

This bill gives the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the go-ahead to work on and update a wide range of water-related construction projects across the country, including maintaining ports and harbors, improving waterways for boat travel, reducing flood and storm damage, restoring natural water environments, protecting shorelines, fixing dams, and managing water supply projects. It also tells the Corps of Engineers to set up a new office focused on finding faster ways to get these infrastructure projects done. On top of that, the bill requires the Corps to create a rule that allows certain smaller harbor or river improvements to move forward more quickly when they would only cause very small negative effects on the environment.
