Safe Operations of Shared Airspace Act of 2025

This bill focuses on making the airspace safer by requiring more aircraft to carry equipment that shares their location and other information with nearby planes and air traffic control. It also sets rules for how the military and the FAA work together when sharing airspace, including creating a new office to coordinate military aircraft flights and requiring safety information sharing between the two. The bill limits which government flights can skip broadcasting requirements and requires the FAA to do a safety analysis whenever a passenger airplane crash causes a death in the United States. It also protects FAA workers from hiring freezes, furloughs, and layoffs, and supports hiring and training more air traffic controllers.
