MONARCH Act of 2025

This bill aims to help protect western monarch butterflies, which are the monarchs that spend winters along the California coast and breed across several western states including California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. It creates a fund called the Western Monarch Butterfly Rescue Fund, and the Department of the Interior would use money from that fund to give out grants for protecting these butterflies and other pollinators in the areas where western monarchs live. The bill also requires the Department of the Interior to work with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to update and carry out an existing conservation plan for western monarch butterflies.
